USC Women's Basketball: JuJu Watkins First Trojans Player Since 1990s to Secure All-American Honors

Add it to the list.

Stop if you've heard this one before: JuJu Watkins has won an award.

The star freshman continues to rack up awards and accolades after her incredible freshman season. The latest: Watkins has been earned All-America honors from both The Sporting News and the U.S. Basketball Writer's Association.

The Sporting News also named Iowa's Caitlin Clark, Stanford's Cameron Brink, Virginia Tech's Liz Kitley and Notre Dame's Hannah Hidalgo as their other first-team All-Americans. The USBWA had Watkins, Clark, Brink South Carolina's Kamilla Cardoso and LSU's Angel Reese on their first team.

This makes Watkins the first USC Trojan since Tina Thompson in 1996 to earn first-team All-American honors.

After a record-breaking freshman season in which she produced 13 30-point games and ranked second in the NCAA in scoring while averaging 27 points per game, it's honestly more shocking when Watkins doesn't win an award.

On her lengthy list of awards, honors and accolades, some of the highlights include winning the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week a record 14 times, winning the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, ESPN's National Freshman of the Year and the All-Pac-12 team.

With Watkins, the Trojans have advanced to the No. 3 ranked team in the country, and one with a No. 1 seed heading into March Madness. USC has had their best season since the 1980s, and won the Pac-12 Tournament.

Watkins can further cement her insane freshman legacy even more with a strong performance in March Madness. If Watkins can help USC advance far in the tournament or win, she can win even more honors and awards (if that's even possible).
