USC Football: Do Trojans Still Have A Shot At This Elite 2026 Cornerback?

Where this prospect currently is in his recruitment process.

Professional. That's how we would describe Brandon Lockhart's approach to football.

Lockhart is being recruited by Auburn, Tennessee, Penn State, Oregon, and your Trojans, to name a few. Coaches see the talent and the potential, and we do, too. But we wanted to know why he thinks he's being so highly recruited.

"Many coaches they like the way I play and I think my length. My length is a big benefit when it comes to being a DB. But also just my mindset and my effort that I show on the field. It shows you how hard a player will work and how they can impact a team. In my opinion, that's the reason I'm being so highly recruited. It's because of my effort that I show towards this game".

After catching up with the highly-touted LA native this week, we quickly learned that USC is in an excellent position to land Lockhart. USC was his dream school growing up, the same school from which his mother graduated. "That always played a big role in my life," says Lockhart. "Also, Michigan, just growing up, I liked seeing how hard their defenses played". Lockhart's older sister currently attends Michigan.

Out of all the schools recruiting him, Lockhart tells us that Oregon and USC have contacted him the most. "Those two have really been on my radar. They have been contacting me, I'd say, weekly. And they're really keeping me updated on how things are going, asking me how things are going, inviting me out to the games".

Lockhart confirmed he has the best relationship with USC at the present moment.

"Knowing that I've been around the team more and the coaches more. Oregon, I've only been up there two times. Only have had limited times to connect with the coaches".

The 6'3 corner is dripping with potential and put together an excellent freshman season. But we wanted to know what areas he thinks he can improve on as his sophomore season progresses.

"Mainly my press-man," Lockhart tells us, is the skill he is chiefly focused on this season as a sophomore. "I think I've been working on that a lot. And just keeping my hips fluid, stretching a lot, I think that's going to help me in the long run".

AllTrojans.com will be keeping in touch with Lockhart as his recruitment develops.
