USC Football: Evaluating 2024 Trojan Commit Cornerback Braylon Conley

How soon will the Texas product see the field at USC?

Atascocita (Humble, TX) cornerback Braylon Conley committed to the Trojans back in June of 2023. He elected to attend USC after considering Arkansas, Auburn, Kansas, Oregon, TCU, Texas, Texas Tech, Utah, and Washington as potential fits.

He is one of three cornerbacks committed to USC's 2024 recruiting class, the other two being St. John Bosco (Bellflower, CA) product Marcelles Williams and Los Alamitos (Los Alamitos, CA) product Isaiah Rubin.

Also an accomplished track and field athlete, the 6-0 170-pound Conley has a knack for big plays. He is a sure-tackler (something increasingly rare these days at the cornerback position) and has the instincts to be able to dissect his opponent’s routes. Excellent hips, and can change direction quickly. He’s able to stop and redirect on a dime and drive on the receiver when he sees the receiver’s hands come up to catch the pass.

Great recovery speed in the trail on deep passes, even when he misreads a route. Conley lined up against some very good receivers in high school and stood his ground. He also has supreme footwork that matches his eyes and isn’t afraid to line up in the press or be an off-ball cover corner as well. He plays with a lot of confidence in his game and isn’t afraid to bait quarterbacks into misjudged passes.

Look for Conley to continue his development at USC for a year or two before he’ll be ready to hold down Big 10 receivers. While he may need time to adjust to the physical tools the Division One receivers possess, Conley looks every bit the part of a lockdown corner at the next level.
