USC football: Trojans 'in the thick of it' recruiting some of country's best receivers

In this story:
USC landed the top wide receiver prospect in the 2023 high school class in Zachariah Branch. From the transfer portal, the Trojans also added the No. 7 wideout in Dorian Singer.
Lincoln Riley and the USC staff have developed a reputation for recruiting the wide receiver position at an exceptionally high level.
Looking ahead to the 2024 class, USC has already added four-star wideout Xavier Jordan and the program is still in the running for a number of other high profile receivers, according to 247Sports.com National Recruiting Director Steve Wiltfong.
Wiltfong answered questions on YouTube earlier this week and went in depth on a few of USC's top receiver targets.
His responses are below.
On five-star Parkview (Lilburn, Ga.) WR Mike Matthews:
"Mike Matthews is going to take an official visit to USC in June. He loved his unofficial visit out there to USC when he went there earlier in his process. USC is battling Tennessee and Clemson. Alabama is recruiting Matthews as a two-way guy. And then Georgia rounds out the top five. But USC is in an interesting spot for Mike Matthews."
On four-star Millikan (Long Beach, Calif.) WR Ryan Pellum:
"Then there's Ryan Pellum, an in state top 100 player. He's a big play guy. I think USC is battling Oregon but they're obviously well positioned for him."
On four-star Silsbee (Texas) WR Drelon Miller:
"Drelon Miller is one of the best pure football players in Texas. One of the reasons I haven't predicted Miller to LSU yet even though I think LSU is in a fantastic position for him is because of USC. Talking to people around that recruitment, they say do not sleep on USC. He visited there in April and he's going to return for an official visit in June. I think USC has a great chance."
On four-star Hiram (Ga.) TE Walter Matthews:
"Walter Matthews has already been to USC several times. He's going to take an official visit in early June."
