Mobley announced the end of his time at USC earlier this week via X. There were rumors he was leaving to join Enfield's staff at SMU, and today, that became a reality. This move comes after the latest hire of Eric Musselman. It wasn't a surprise that Mobley left due to Musselman's arrival, as Mobley had been in Enfielfd's staff for the last six seasons.
Mobley, father of USC greats Evan and Isaiah Mobley, played a massive role in bringing his two boys to USC. Even though bringing his two sons, he brought a ton of coaching, player development, and mentoring experience. The 55-year-old coach coached various AAU programs, coaching the AAU Compton Magic 16-and-Under team three years before joining the Trojans.
While it's a tough loss for the Trojan basketball program, the program looks forward to the new regime. USC will look to build an even greater program than how Enfield and Mobley left it.
It may be challenging, but Musselman has shown he can do that.
We wish Mobley the best at SMU.
