M9, NCST leads 14-7:
A lead-off home run from Luke Nixon added to the NC State lead. Danny Lazaro bounced back and set the next three batters down in order to retire the side.
Virginia Tech needs seven runs to tie in the bottom half.
E8, NCST leads 13-7:
The Hokies had just one baserunner — a two-out single from Sam Gates — in the eighth, failing to cut into the NC State lead.
M8, NCST leads 13-7:
Amidst a rain-delayed inning, NC State broke the game open with a five-run eighth inning, using three hits, a walk and a HBP. The crushing blow was a two-out dropped third strike that allowed the batter to reach and score a run. Should that have been an out, the Hokies would be trailing 10-7.
NC State will go to a new arm in the eighth due to the rain delay.

After a pair of singles to start the inning, an umpire caught some lightning. The game will go into an immediate 45 minute stop and that clock will reset with every lightning strike.

An error to start the frame put Rett Johnson on second base before Luke Nixon hit a bunt single to put runners on the corners before a sac-fly from Mikey Ryan quickly allowed NC State to reclaim the lead.
Working around another walk, Grim escaped further damage in the frame.

A lead-off solo homer from Hudson Lutterman was enough to tie the game after five innings. NC State starter Cooper Consiglio's day came to a close after the homer and a walk to Nick Locurto. Ryder Garino entered the game and struck out all three batters he faced to end the frame.

Ethan Grim took the mound to relieve Logan Eisenreich, setting up for yet another lead change in the fourth, as a lead-off single from Rett Johnson set up Ty Head for a two-out, two-run bomb to right field into the NC State bullpen.

Following the rain delay, an RBI single from Owen Petrich scored Nick Locurto, allowing the Hokies to reclaim the lead and put runners on the corners. Sam Gates walked to load the bases, but Sam Grube wasn't able to cash in.

A pair of hits to open up the frame set up for a two-rbi double from Chris McHugh. An error and a sac fly then tied the game at five.

A pair of RBI doubles — including a two-out, two-rbi double from Ethan Gibson — and an RBI bunt single from Sam Gates helped the Hokies plate four runs and reclaim the lead after losing it in the top half of the inning.

A lead-off walk from Sherman Johnson was followed up by a two-run big-fly off the right-field foul pole, giving the Pack a 2-0 lead. Logan Eisenreich managed the inning, not allowing another run while working around a two-out double from Rett Johnson.

Virginia Tech gives Logan Eisenreich some quick run support, putting runners on the corners with one out using a one-out double and a walk. The Hokies executed the double steal to perfection, scoring Ethan Gibson from third to get out to an early 1-0 lead.

NC State put together a small two-out rally with a walk and a single, but Logan Eisenreich kept the Wolfpack off the board by striking out Chris McHugh to end the frame.
