Growing up in Lake Stevens, Washington, Jacob Eason was always a Husky fan. Even though his father went to Notre Dame, the young Eason always knew that he was a Dawg at heart.

Unfortunately for Eason, he grew up in an era where the Huskies didn’t have a lot of success versus the Oregon Ducks. In fact, the Dawgs have only beaten Oregon 5 times in Jacob Eason’s LIFETIME.

Last year, Jacob had to sit idly by and watch the Huskies lose a heart breaking overtime game down in Autzen stadium. Because he had just transferred from The University of Georgia, Eason was not eligible to participate in the big rivalry game against the Ducks in 2018. But this year is different, and now that he is at the helm of this Husky offense he not only knows the significance of this game, but he can now have an effect on the outcome.

Saturday’s game in Husky Stadium will feature two of the premier NFL quarterback prospects in the country when Jacob Eason and Oregon’s Justin Herbert take the field. They are currently  the highest rated quarterbacks in the Pac 12 according to the Pro Football Focus College numbers, with Eason nudging out Herbert with a score of 88.7 (Herbert came in at 88.4) With so much on the line, and two of the best pro style quarterbacks in the conference, Saturday’s game should be one that football fans across the country will enjoy.

We caught up with Jacob Eason today to talk to him about this game, what it means to him, the emergence of his young receiver Puka Nacua and more! Watch the video here on SI!
