On Tuesday, several members of the West Virginia University baseball program Mountaineers earned All-Big 12 Conference recognition with sophomore J.J. Wetherholt capturing Big 12 Conference Baseball Player of the Year and head coach Randy Mazey bringing home Big 12 Conference Coach of the Year.

West Virginia starting pitcher Ben Hampton, closer Carlson Reed, along with J.J. Wetherholt was selected to the All-Big 12 First Team.

Wetherholt, a three-time Big 12 Conference Player of the Week honoree, ended the regular season ranked second in the country in batting average, hitting .447 while also leading the Big 12 Conference in slugging percentage (.786), OPS (1.296), runs (65), hits (92) and stolen bases (35). Additionally, he ranked second in the league with 21 doubles and on base percentage at .510.

Hampton was 5-3 on 14 appearances this season with a 4.50 ERA and 62 strikeouts while Carlson Reed collected seven saves and 53 saves.

Centerfielder Braden Barry, left fielder Landon Wallace and starting pitcher Blaine Traxel were named to the All-Big 12 second team.

Braden Barry was fifth in the league in doubles (19), sixth in stolen bases (31), second in sacrifice bunts (7), eighth in runs (55), and third in triples (3).

Landon Wallace was ranked sixth in the conference on base percentage (.467), second in sacrifice bunts (7), ninth in OPS (1.049), and third in triples (3)

Blaine Traxel finished the regular season with a team-leading 3.79 ERA and was sixth in the Big 12 in wins with a 7-5 record in a league-leading 99.2 innings pitched at 99.2 with 71 strikeouts which ranks eighth in the league.
