Another West Virginia Mountaineer has made it to the big leagues. According to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post Dispatch, outfielder Victor Scott II has made the St. Louis Cardinals' Opening Day roster and is expected to start in centerfield.

Scott was selected in the fifth round (pick No. 157) of the 2022 MLB First-Year Player Draft and has flown through the minor league system. In two full years in the minors (High-A & Double-A), Scott hit at a .290 clip with an on-base percentage of .367 and a slugging percentage of .419. He barreled up eleven homers and drove in 75 runs while amassing 107 steals in 124 attempts (86.3%).

This spring, Scott continued to impress going 12-for-38 (.316) at the plate with one RBI and four stolen bases. With fellow outfielder Dylan Carlson suffering a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder following a collision in a spring training game, it opened up the door for Scott to secure his spot on the active big league roster.

Scott and the Cardinals will open up the season Thursday against the Los Angeles Dodgers. First pitch is set for 4:10 p.m. EST.
