WVU Takes Top Spot in Big 12 Standings

The Mountaineers are heating up.

After a somewhat sluggish start to the season, the West Virginia Mountaineers are finding their groove and now sit atop the Big 12 standings following this weekend's sweep of the Kansas Jayhawks.

The Mountaineers scored 31 runs on 46 hits over the span of three days and saw the return of one of the best player in all of college baseball, JJ Wetherholt. The projected first overall pick in the 2024 MLB First-Year Player Draft had missed the last month and a half with a hamstring injury and went 5-for-13 with 4 RBI and five walks in his first series back in action.

WVU will travel to Marshall on Wednesday for a non-conference mid-week game and then return home for a three-game series with UCF, beginning on Friday at 6:30 p.m. EST.
