Jay Bilas, Fran Fraschilla Give Opinion on WVU's Hire of Darian DeVries

It looks like Wren Baker got it right again.

West Virginia's hire of Darian DeVries is widely considered the best hire in college basketball. Some believe Dusty May to Michigan is the best hire, but those folks have DeVries to WVU closely behind. A couple of well-respected college basketball analysts at ESPN, Jay Bilas and Fran Fraschilla, voiced their opinions on WVU's new lead man.

Jay Bilas:

"Darian DeVries is a proven leader and basketball coach, and one of the brightest young coaches in the game. He took his experience working under Dana Altman and Greg McDermott to another level as head coach at Drake, and there is no doubt he will be a success at West Virginia. Darian has put his time in and is the real thing. West Virginia found the right coach in Darian DeVries."

Fran Fraschilla:

"Darian DeVries is an excellent coach who has been a part of winning his entire career. He has an innovative mind and his teams are hard-nosed. I believe the people of West Virginia will embrace his style, and his personality will fit the state like a glove."

In six years as the head coach at Drake, DeVries went 150-55, leading the Bulldogs to three NCAA Tournament appearances.
