New WVU Football Depth Chart Projection + Intel After Second Scrimmage

An updated look at what the Mountaineers' depth chart could look like when the season begins.
WVU Athletics Communications

The West Virginia Mountaineers held their second scrimmage of the preseason on Saturday, and we are now officially under two weeks until the season kicks off against Coastal Carolina.

The last depth chart projection I put out was before the first scrimmage, so we've learned quite a few things since then. Here's an updated look at how I see things on both sides of the ball, heading into Week 0.

Notable changes + updates

Lawrence Autry
WVU Athletics Communications

RB: Lawrence Autry showing some things

The true freshman has come along nicely and should be RB5 when he returns to practice. He's banged up right now and will be out another week or so.

IOL: King and Aisosa showing versatility

Josh Aisosa has been getting some reps at center throughout camp, and King is also getting some time at left guard, which is where he played at Wyoming.

WILL: Malachi Hood > Ben Cutter as top backup

Cutter will still see a bunch of snaps, but right now, I think we will see Cam Torbor as the starter here with Hood and Cutter splitting reps behind him. Hood is a little bigger and longer than Cutter, for what it's worth.

CB: Jaire Rawlison's stock is rising

Chams Diagne and Nick Taylor appear to be the clear-cut starters for now, but that whole group is still full of question marks as far as playing time goes and where the rotation cuts off. Keep an eye out for Kent State transfer Jaire Rawlison. He's had a solid camp and has played the most snaps of anyone in that room.
