Despite the vast majority of pollsters sticking with national champion Georgia as the No. 1 team in the latest college football rankings, whether by the Coaches or AP top 25 voters, that consensus is starting to wear thin as the season progresses.

What the BCS college football rankings would look like in Week 9

25. UCLA (AP No. 23). The Bruins moved to 2-2 in Pac-12 play and have Colorado up next.

24. Tulane (AP No. 22). Still at No. 1 in the AAC with one loss to Ole Miss.

23. USC (AP No. 24). Now at 2 losses after dropping one at home to Utah and out of the playoff chase.

22. Duke (AP No. 20). The Blue Devils led the Seminoles on the road before Riley Leonard's re-injury helped spur FSU's late comeback with Louisville up next.

21. Tennessee (AP No. 21). The Vols led Alabama at halftime but failed to stem the Tide's second-half rally.

20. James Madison (AP No. 25). Perfect through seven games, the Dukes are the class of the Group of Five.

19. Louisville (AP No. 18). Sitting at second in the ACC standings with one loss.

18. Air Force (AP No. 19). College football's top rushing team took down Navy and moved to 7-0 on the year.

17. North Carolina (AP No. 17). Down 7 spots in the AP poll after a shocking loss at home to lowly Virginia.

16. Missouri (AP No. 16). Second in the SEC East, the Tigers boast a potent offense but with two critical dates upcoming, against Georgia and UT.

15. LSU (AP No. 15). Off this week, the Tigers prepare for a date at Alabama to help sort out the SEC West pecking order.

14. Notre Dame (AP No. 14). Idle last week, the Irish return against Pitt hoping to generate some more offense.

13. Oregon State (AP No. 11). The Beavers are 3rd in the Pac-12 with a top 15 scoring offense and two road games upcoming.

12. Utah (AP No. 13). Coming off a statement win at USC in which the low-ranked offense was able to generate some rhythm against the Trojans.

11. Ole Miss (AP No. 12). The Rebels took care of Auburn in a close one on the road and are still within striking distance in the SEC West.

10. Oregon (AP No. 8). Tied for third in the Pac-12, a critical date at Utah comes up this week as the Ducks look to avoid a second loss.

9. Penn State (AP No. 10). The offense slipped into neutral at Ohio State and even PSU's top-ranked defense finally gave way late in another loss to an East rival.

8. Texas (AP No. 7). The Longhorns escaped Houston with a close win to stay in Big 12 title contention, but will be without quarterback Quinn Ewers after an injury.

7. Alabama (AP No. 9). A second-half comeback pushed the Tide past the Vols and stay at No. 1 in the SEC West with LSU coming in after the open week.

6. Washington (AP No. 5). The Huskies' offense fell asleep against Arizona State, but a late pick-six sealed the win to stay in the Pac-12 title hunt.

5. Oklahoma (AP No. 6). OU needed to thwart a 2-point conversion as time ran out to put away UCF at home in a 2-point decision, but stays undefeated.

4. Florida State (AP No. 4). The Seminoles stormed back in the second half after trailing Duke at home to stay perfect and No. 1 in the ACC.

3. Georgia (AP No. 1). The defending champs are the near-consensus No. 1 team in most polls, but not on the BCS rankings.

2. Ohio State (AP No. 3). Marvin Harrison, Jr. helped pull the Buckeyes away from Penn State in a statement win ahead of a trip to Wisconsin.

1. Michigan (AP No. 2). Say what you will about the Wolverines' schedule, but they've passed every test with increasing dominance thanks in part to college football's No. 1 ranked scoring defense and an average scoring margin of 41-6.
