Dan Lanning directly addresses Alabama football coaching rumors

It didn't take long for the college football coaching carousel speculating machine to get going after Nick Saban announced his bombshell decision to retire from Alabama, and one of the names that emerged right away was current Oregon coach Dan Lanning.
But the Ducks' head coach will not be taking the Alabama position, or any other, instead electing to stay at Oregon and continue building the program he currently runs, the coach confirmed himself in an X post.

Some reports from various local outlets claimed that Lanning was personally in Tuscaloosa, Ala. to speak with university officials about the position, but those reports are now being considered inaccurate.
Lanning was in fact in Eugene, Ore. watching a "Jason Bourne" film with his family, according to a 247Sports report.
The coach just completed his second season as Oregon head coach, leading the Ducks to a 12-2 record this past year, and is 22-5 overall with the school.
The Ducks will enter the Big Ten in the 2024 football season and are considered a contender to win the conference championship and make the College Football Playoff.
