Media reaction after Arkansas' ugly loss, Sam Pittman's future with Razorbacks

For the first time under the direction of Sam Pittman, the Arkansas football team is yet to win a game in SEC play through five games after an ugly loss on Saturday, leaving major structural questions over the direction of the program going forward.
- Hogs move to 2-6 overall
- And just 0-5 in SEC play
- Reaction follows loss to Mississippi State, which came in the worst team in the SEC West
- Arkansas now holds that distinction after the head-to-head loss
- Razorback fans holding Pittman, offensive coordinator Dan Enos responsible.
Feel bad for KJ
I genuinely feel horrible for KJ Jefferson.

This is unbelievable.
The fate of the Razorbacks' offense has coincided with a decline in play from quarterback KJ Jefferson, who had 97 yards passing and an interception in the loss to Mississippi State.
"Terrible effort"
Don't remember a worse offensive performance by Arkansas against a team not named Alabama or Georgia, and that's saying something. Just a terrible effort by the offense, awful protection and a horribly called game for fans that have been waiting five weeks for a home game. #wps

An all-round failure this week, and this season, for the Hogs, due primarily to their inability to consistent produce any quality offense, an issue that begins with their subpar line protection from start to finish.
"Lifeless"
An absolutely lifeless performance out of Arkansas, the kind of day that makes you wonder if this season is it for Sam Pittman.

This season has been a disaster for Arkansas, another critical step backwards for a program that appeared to be taking a positive turn under Pittman's direction. The Razorbacks went 9-4 two years ago and won the Liberty Bowl, but won 7 games the year after and just 2 this season.
Ls piling up
Since starting 3-0 last season, Arkansas is:
— Aaron Torres (@Aaron_Torres) October 21, 2023
* 6-12 in its last 18
* 2-10 in its last 12 SEC games (one of the wins was literally Bryan Harsin's last game at Auburn)
* Home losses to Liberty + BYU
Not exactly the trend you want to see in Year 4 under Sam Pittman
Arkansas is trending in the wrong direction, not only against SEC opposition, but against non-conference teams, as well.
Short yard issues
Arkansas offense is so bad, they have made the unstoppable QB sneak very stoppable

Case in point for how poorly the Razorbacks' line has regressed: after opening the second half with the ball, the offense managed just 21 yards and failed to get enough push for Jefferson to convert this fourth down attempt from short range.
"Abject"
It's one thing for Arkansas to lose. It's an entirely different thing for Arkansas to lose like THAT.

What an abject disaster this entire season has become.
The Dan Enos era at Arkansas has not exactly panned out well for the offensive coordinator or his offense.
3 points, 4 emails
Enos sent more emails to students than his offense scored points today.
— Ben Brandon (@BenBrandonHoops) October 21, 2023
Enos notably emailed four students after the Razorbacks' loss to Texas A&M responding to their criticism, one more message than points his offense had on Saturday,
"I didn't know what to do"
"To be honest, I didn't know what to do, and I didn't make the decision fast enough. I didn't want to burn the timeout because I wasn't sure I was making the right decision."

- Head Coach Sam Pittman on electing to punt instead of sending Cam Little for a field goal.
After the game, Pittman admitted he was unsure of how to strategize in the second half when faced with a decision to either kick a field goal or punt, a statement that won't sit well with most fans.
