Blind Side scandal: Sandra Bullock reacts to Michael Oher controversy

This week, former Ole Miss and NFL offensive lineman Michael Oher filed a lawsuit against Sean and Leigh Anne Touhy, alleging that the family never actually adopted him, but tricked him into signing a document that would make them his conservators, and that they took all the proceeds from the film "The Blind Side," based on his life.

Amid the online reaction to the whole scandal, some enraged commenters have gone as far as to demand that Sandra Bullock, who portrayed Mrs. Touhy in the film based on the book, should return the Oscar she won for the role. Though she hasn't spoken officially on the matter, some close to her have seen her reaction.

Bullock “hates” that her involvement in a story that she believed to be true has been “tainted,” by the allegations, according to the The Daily Mail.

"She hates that such a wonderful story, a spectacular movie, and a spectacular time in her life now has been tainted," a source told the British tabloid. "Now people won't watch it and if they do, they will have a completely different reaction to its original intention."

The person added: "There was so much hard work put into the film that they all thought was the truth and now that has been questioned, it just upsets Sandra to no end that a time in her life that was so special, is now shadowed with a completely different perspective."

Armchair critics were out in force on social media to comment on the controversy, but most observers had the sense to know that blaming an actress for taking a role isn't exactly the wisest course of action.

“Sandra Bullock starred in the fictionalized adaptation of ‘The Blind Side,'” said film and TV reviewer Richard Roeper. “It is totally misguided and unfair to assign blame to her for the new and deeply disturbing allegations about the real-life story.”
