The future of Jeremiah Smith has been one of the hot topics in the college football recruiting scene recently, and perhaps nowhere more so than Ohio State, where the No. 1 ranked wide receiver and consensus top-five player nationally in the 2024 cycle has given his commitment. So far.

But ever since five-star quarterback and consensus No. 1 overall recruit Dylan Raiola announced his commitment to Georgia, that got Smith looking at the Bulldogs in a new light, culminating in another visit to the back-to-back national champions, where he snapped some photos of himself in a UGA uniform and gear.

All of which has put Ohio State fans a little on edge about their top recruit, but Smith went public with what appears to be a re-affirmation of his pledge to the Buckeyes.

On the last day of May, Smith tweeted out a pair of emojis: one of a chestnut, and another of a lock. A message for the Buckeyes that he's a lock to the scarlet and gray?

Despite his having committed to Ohio State back in December, the recruiting rumor mill suddenly picked up that Georgia had a real chance of making the move and flipping Smith after the bombshell Raiola commitment.

And especially after Smith told recruiting service On3 Sports that the quarterback landing at Georgia "means a lot to me and my interest in them."

He added: "I have to really give Georgia a look now that they have Dylan."

Georgia has been interested in Smith from the beginning and, prior to Raiola's commitment, had been using the quarterback's impending pledge there as a tool to lure the wide receiver away from Ohio State.

After taking a closer look, and meeting with Raiola, among other prospects, at Georgia, Smith reacted by appearing to solidify his existing commitment to Ohio State.

Still, there's a long way to go before National Signing Day and Buckeye fans have cause to be a little on edge until it's official.

But at least they have some assurance that the player still appears to be firmly in Ohio State's corner as we move into the summer.
