Fox announced it will broadcast the anticipated Week 2 game between college football superpowers Alabama and Texas, but fans were quick to point out that likely means the game will start early in time for the network's "Big Noon Kickoff."

Though the network is yet to announce a kickoff time, an 11 a.m. local start time means the game will be played under likely very hot conditions.

That inspired a fan to start a petition on Change.org, asking Fox to move the game to a primetime kickoff after dark.

“Fans of both programs planning to attend September’s clash of titans can expect projected highs of 97 degrees Fahrenheit in Austin,” the petition reads.

“Players on the artificial turf at Darrell K Royal Texas Memorial Stadium can expect field temperatures to exceed 105 degrees. Fans on the eastern half of the stadium facing west can expect the sun to be on them the entire game.

“Let me repeat that for emphasis. Fans facing west can expect the sun on them THE ENTIRE GAME. The sun won’t go down below the opposite grand stand until the game is over. No amount of sunscreen can protect fans of fairer complexion, and skin cancer doesn’t discriminate.”

It's unlikely that Fox will listen to the concerns of random petitioners, not with ratings on the line. For the past several years, the network has put its best games on early in the day to avoid direct competition with primetime games on ESPN and ABC.

But the network may listen more closely to officials from Alabama or Texas. Especially Texas, who along with Oklahoma, cited early kickoffs on Fox as a reason why the schools decided to leave the Big 12 for the SEC.

All we know is that Alabama and Texas will kick off sometime on Saturday, Sept. 10, and that the Crimson Tide are already 15 point favorites at most books.
