While this season hasn't been storybook for Miguel Cabrera of the Detroit Tigers, there are still nice moments.

One such moment occurred on Tuesday as Cabrera continued to write his name in the baseball history books.

Per ESPN Stats & Info:

With his third hit on Tuesday, Miguel Cabrera (5,272) passed Ken Griffey Jr. (5,271) for 15th on the all-time total bases list.

Next on the list is Adrián Beltré (5,309).

Any time you are passing Griffey Jr. on any list, you're doing something right.

Cabrera is struggling this season, the last of his career. He's playing part-time for the Tigers and is just hitting .196 with no home runs and seven RBI. He's carrying a .272 on-base percentage.

For his career though, he's one of the all-time greats and Tuesday's accomplishment reminds us of just that. He's an eventual Hall of Famer.

Cabrera made his major league debut at the age of 20 and since then has put together one of the most impressive resumes in baseball history.

He's a World Champion (2003 with the Marlins), a Triple Crown winner, a two-time MVP, a four-time batting champion, a seven-time Silver Slugger and a 12-time All-Star selection.

He's a lifetime .307 hitter who is a member of both the 3,000 hit and 500-home run clubs.

The Tigers are also in an interesting situation with him. They are 25-28 but are just 2.0 games back of first-place in the American League Central.

They want to honor Cabrera's legacy, but can they afford to carry a player that isn't offering much as they chase a playoff spot?

We'll see what they do, but for one night, it was nice to be reminded of Cabrera's greatness.
