Houston Astros' Teammates Accomplish Something Never Done Before in the Playoffs

Yordan Alvarez and Jose Abreu of the Houston Astros have made baseball history in these playoffs - and are just two wins away from the World Series.

The Houston Astros rolled over the Texas Rangers on Thursday night 10-3 in Game 4 of the American League Championship Series.

As a result, the series is tied at two games apiece with both teams just two wins away from the World Series.

It's been a great playoff run for Astros' sluggers Yordan Alvarez and Jose Abreu, who have made some teammate history in October.

Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com:

José Abreu and Yordan Alvarez are 2 of 21 players with 4+ HR & 10+ RBI in their teams’ 1st 8 games of a single postseason (or fewer) 

they’re the first teammates to do in the same year

Alvarez went 2-for-4 with three RBI in the Game 4 victory. He's now hitting a whopping .419 this postseason with six homers and 13 RBI. He's one of the most productive and feared postseason hitters in all of baseball, owning a career .277 playoff average with 12 homers and 39 RBI.

As for Abreu, he went 1-for-3 with a homer and three RBI on Thursday. He's hitting .258 this postseason with four homers and 11 RBI. Through his playoff career with the Astros and White Sox, he's a .288 hitter with a .949 OPS.

Abreu's playoff resurgence is welcome considering he had a down year in the regular season. After signing a multi-year deal in Houston last offseason, Abreu slumped to a .237 average and battled injury. He did post 18 homers and 90 RBI.

Game 5 of the series will be played Friday afternoon in Arlington. First pitch is 5:07 p.m. ET.
