Brandon Drury Hits 9,000th Home Run All-Time For Los Angeles Angels

The Los Angeles Angels are taking on the Boston Red Sox on Sunday afternoon at Fenway Park and Angels' infielder Brandon Drury is making some history by hitting the 9,000th home run in the history of the franchise.

The Los Angeles Angels are taking on the Boston Red Sox on Sunday afternoon at Fenway Park, and infielder Brandon Drury is making a little history.

Drury hit a home run in the top of the third inning off of Red Sox' starter Brayan Bello. That was the 9,000th home run in the history of the Angels franchise, which began in 1961.

The home run came on a fastball at the top of the zone that Drury buried in the right field bullpen. At the time, that brought the Angels deficit to 2-1.

The versatile Drury is now 31-years-old and in the 10th year of his career with the Diamondbacks, Yankees, Blue Jays, Mets, Reds, Padres and Angels. This is his second year in Los Angeles. He hit 26 homers a season ago with 83 RBI. Entering play on Sunday, he was hitting just .170 but the home run should help spur some confidence moving forward.

In the wake of losing Shohei Ohtani this offseason to free agency, the Angels are searching for offense, so getting Drury going is tantamount to what they do.

They entered play on Sunday at 7-7 overall and will move over .500 with a win. The Angels will continue their road trip on Monday when they travel to Tampa Bay to take on the Rays.

First pitch on Monday is set for 6:50 p.m. as Patrick Sandoval pitches against Zach Eflin. The question will be if home run number 9,001 has been hit before the team descends on Florida or not.
