Los Angeles Angels Star Shohei Ohtani Joins Rare List in Franchise Record Books

In this story:
The Los Angeles Angels beat the New York Yankees on Monday night, 4-3. The loss was a historic one for the Yankees, but the win also provided some fun team history for the Halos.
Shohei Ohtani went 3-for-4 in the win with a run scored and two RBI. He doubled and hit his 35th homer, which leads all of baseball.
Hitting the 35-homer mark also put Ohtani further into Angels team history.
Per ESPN Stats & Info:
Shohei Ohtani joins Mike Trout (5) and Troy Glaus (2) as the only players with multiple seasons with 35 home runs in Angels history.

Ohtani also hit more than 35 homers (46) in his MVP-winning 2021 season. He hit 34 in 2022 but is well on his way to winning the MVP Award again in the American League this year. In addition to leading the league in home runs, he also leads the league in triples (six) and ranks third in RBI (75).
It's been an incredible year for Ohtani, the unquestioned best talent in baseball. In addition to his counting stats, he's also hitting .306 and has posted a 1.068 OPS.
While he's battled a cracked fingernail of late, he's also put together a solid year on the mound, going 7-5 with a 3.50 ERA. He's struck out 139 batters in 105.1 innings and was named to his third All-Star team this year.
After the win, the Angels are within one game of .500 at 47-48. They trail by 5.5 games in the wild card race.
The two teams will play again on Tuesday as Domingo German pitches for the Yankees against Patrick Sandoval.
First pitch is 9:38 p.m. ET.
