New York Yankees' Duo Doing Something Not Done in More Than 50 Years in Early Going

The New York Yankees are out to a fantastic start with Aaron Judge and Juan Soto leading the way offensively. Together, the pair is doing something that hasn't been done in the last 50 years of team history in the early going.

The New York Yankees swept the Cleveland Guardians in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Progressive Field, winning by scores of 3-2 and 8-2.

With the two wins, the Yankees are now 12-3 on the season and in first place in the American League East.

Furthermore, the offense is being carried by new acquistion Juan Soto, who the team traded for this offseason. Him and Aaron Judge together make up one of the best duos in all of baseball, and while Judge hasn't gotten it going just yet, the tandem is still making team history.

Per Yankees' expert Katie Sharp on social media:

Judge and Soto are the first Yankee teammates to each have 14+ walks thru their first 15 games played since Thurman Munson and Roy White in 1970

That's a good combination to be paired with in team history and any time you do something that hasn't been done for more than 50 years, you've done something special. Judge and Soto have the second and third most walks in all of baseball to this point, behind only Mookie Betts, who has played more games.

Soto is out to a .333 start this year while Judge is hitting just .204. However, opposing pitchers clearly feel nervous about giving them something to hit, which opens up the door for other members of the team's lineup.

The Yankees and Guardians will play again on Sunday afternoon with first pitch scheduled for 1:40 p.m. ET.

Nestor Cortes (1-0, 3.50 ERA) will pitch against Logan Allen (2-0 4.60 ERA).
