Here's What Texas Rangers' Star Corey Seager Has in Common with LeBron James

Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager was named MVP of the World Series, putting him into elite company with... LeBron James?

The Texas Rangers shut out the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-0 on Wednesday night to win their first ever World Series championship.

The Rangers had several heroes throughout this playoff run: Adolis Garcia won ALCS MVP, Nathan Eovaldi started six games with the Rangers wining all six games, and Corey Seager dominated the World Series, hitting home runs in both Games 3 and 4.

For his efforts, Seager was named the World Series MVP. It's the second time in his career he earned that distinction, also getting the award in 2020 with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Seager earned an interesting spot in history with the MVP award, pairing himself with.... LeBron?

Per @OptaSTATS on social media:

Corey Seager of the @Rangers is the second player in MLB/NBA/NFL/NHL history to win the championship MVP award for 2 different teams in a span of 4 seasons. The other is LeBron James.

LeBron won the NBA Finals MVP with both the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers in the span of four years.

Seager went 2-for-4 in the Game 5 win. His single in the seventh inning broke up a no-hitter for Diamondbacks' pitcher Zac Gallen. For the playoffs, Seager hit .318 over 66 at-bats. He had six homers and 12 RBI and posted an OPS of 1.133.

Lifetime, he's a .254 playoff hitter. He has 19 home runs. He's been to the playoffs in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2020 and 2021 with the Dodgers. This was his first appearance with the Rangers.

In addition to World Series MVP, he's going to receive significant votes for American League MVP.
