The Cincinnati Reds have won nine consecutive games and have moved into first place in the National League Central, but that doesn't mean all the news is good.

On Monday, the Reds placed young flamethrower Hunter Greene on the injured list with a hip problem.

The following update comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:

Greene was placed on the 15-day injured list Monday with right hip pain.

ANALYSIS
Greene has battled the hip issue for a few weeks now, having a start skipped at one point and feeling renewed discomfort during his last outing Saturday in Houston. It doesn't seem like an injury which will lead to an extended absence, but more should be known about a potential timetable for the hard-throwing right-hander in the coming days.

For all the talk about prospects like Elly De La Cruz, Matt McLain and Spencer Steer, it should be noted that Greene was the first of the Reds big prospects to debut, making his debut early in 2022.

The strong right-hander is armed with one of the best fastballs in the game. He was the No. 2 overall pick in the draft in 2017 out of the California high school ranks.

This season, he's 2-4 with a 3.93 ERA. He's struck out 100 batters in 73.1 innings.

For his career, he's 7-17 with a 4.25 ERA.

The Reds will put their nine-game winning streak on the line on Tuesday when they take on the Colorado Rockies again.

First pitch is at 7:10 p.m. ET as Ben Lively pitches for Cincy.
