The Houston Astros, who enter play on Tuesday at just 2.0 games back in the American League West, appear primed to get multiple big pieces back from injury this week as they make their late season playoff push.

The following update comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:

Astros manager Dusty Baker said there's a chance Altuve (oblique) could be activated Wednesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

ANALYSIS
Yordan Alvarez (oblique) is also a possibility for Wednesday's series finale against the Rangers. Altuve landed on the injured list July 6 due to left oblique soreness, but he's been doing baseball activities without issue for the last week or so and will apparently be allowed to skip a minor-league rehab assignment.

Potentially getting both Altuve and Alvarez back on Wednesday is a massive shift for the Astros lineup, as those two make it one of the most dangerous lineups in the league.

Altuve is hitting .264 this season in 121 at-bats. He missed the early portion of the year after recovering from an injury sustained in the World Baseball Classic. He's got six home runs and 18 RBI.

For his career, he's a .306 hitter with 198 homers and 714 RBI.

He is an eight-time All-Star, a six-time Silver Slugger, a three-time batting champion, a two-time World Series winner, an MVP and a Gold Glove winner.

The Astros will look to pick up another game on the Rangers in the standings when the two teams meet on Tuesday night.

First pitch from Houston is set for 8:10 p.m. ET.
