Injury and Recovery Timeline Announced For Cincinnati Reds Lefty Nick Lodolo

In this story:
The Cincinnati Reds learned the timeline for recovery on Wednesday with young left-hander Nick Lodolo.
Lodolo has been on the injured list with a stress reaction in his leg and now the team has a more defined plan for his return.
The following update comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:
Lodolo (leg) received encouraging results from his MRI on Wednesday, but he won't be able to return until early August at the earliest, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Lodolo is still in a walking boot from the stress reaction he suffered in his left tibia, and he'll continue to wear the boot for at least two more weeks, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. The left-hander will miss at least another six weeks while he recovers and rehabs, and the Reds will take plenty of precaution with the 25-year-old before he returns to the mound.
While that certainly seems discouraging on the surface, it's encouraging that Lodolo is expected to be able to come back and pitch this year.
The Reds are among the most exciting young teams in all of baseball with Lodolo, Elly De La Cruz, Brandon Williamson and Spencer Steer, so Lodolo coming back to be part of that is a very good thing.
The former first-round pick is armed with an upper-90s fastball and a devastating slider. He's 2-1 this year with a 6.29 ERA in 34.1 innings. He has 47 strikeouts in those 34.1 innings. After debuting last year, he's 6-8 lifetime with a 4.31 ERA.
The Reds play the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday at 8:10 p.m. ET.
