Losers of 10 Straight, Pittsburgh Pirates Place Best Player on Injured List

In this story:
The Pittsburgh Pirates are going through a very rough time right now. They've lost 10 consecutive games and have slid from first to fourth place in the National League Central.
And things won't get any easier as they try to rebound, because they just placed their best overall player Bryan Reynolds on the injured list.
The following update comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:
The Pirates placed Reynolds on the 10-day injured list Thursday with lower back inflammation, Alex Stumpf of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Manager Derek Shelton said Tuesday that Reynolds wouldn't need to be placed on the injured list, but that has apparently changed over the last 48 hours. Reynolds is slashing .279/.350/.473 through 294 plate appearances this season and will now sit out until at least the beginning of July.
In addition to his stellar slash line this year, Reynolds has eight homers, 40 RBI and eight stolen bases. He's got an .823 OPS also.
The 28-year-old is a critical part of what the Pirates do and is certainly a possibility to represent the organization in the All-Star Game next month in Seattle.
He inked a brand new contract extension earlier this season as well.
The Pirates will be back in action on Friday as they look to end the losing streak. They'll take on the Miami Marlins at 6:40 p.m. ET at loanDepot park.
Luis Ortiz (1-3, 4.30 ERA) goes for Pittsburgh while Jesus Luzardo (6-5, 4.09 ERA) goes for Miami.
Miami enters the game at 43-33 and in second place in the National League East.
