Miami Marlins Star Getting Ready to Return as Team Pushes For Playoffs

The Miami Marlins are getting good news on the rehab front with regards to star outfielder Jazz Chisholm.

The Miami Marlins enter play on Friday at 0.5 games back of the third and final wild card spot in the National League.

As the team makes a push for its first playoff berth since 2020, they appear to be getting closer to getting back star outfielder Jazz Chisholm.

The following comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:

Chisholm (oblique) went through a full on-field workout Friday that included batting practice, outfield drills and running, the Marlins' website reports.

ANALYSIS
Out since July 2 due to a left oblique strain, Chisholm could require a rehab assignment before he rejoins Miami's lineup, but he appears to be closing in on a return to game action. The 25-year-old has had trouble staying healthy this season as he transitions to center field, but he's produced nine homers, 14 steals and a .745 OPS in 45 games.

No matter when Chisholm comes back, he'll be an upgrade to a team that has lost eight of its last 10 games.

He's hitting .246 this year with nine homers, 21 RBI and 14 stolen bases in 167 at-bats.

Lifetime, he's a .243 hitter with 43 home runs. He made the All-Star Game back in 2022 and was also named the cover athlete for the MLB The Show video game franchise this season.

The Marlins are 55-48 entering play on Friday and currently lead the Tigers, 3-0, at the time of this posting.

The two teams will play again on Saturday and will wrap up the three-game series on Sunday afternoon.
