The Milwaukee Brewers received positive news on the injury front on Friday regarding outfielder Garrett Mitchell.

Per Brewers reporter Adam McCalvy:

News from the Brewers: OF Garrett Mitchell has been cleared to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Nashville tonight.

That could be big news for the 'Crew, who could get Mitchell back at the conclusion of the Triple-A season. If that happens, he'd get an opportunity to get a few games in before the end of the major league season and then could end up being a factor for the Brewers in the playoffs.

He injured his shoulder back on April 18 and hasn't played since.

The 25-year-old California native is hitting .259 this season through 58 at-bats. He's got three home runs, six RBI and has stolen a base.

Before the 2022 season, Mitchell was the No. 4 ranked prospect in the Brewers' system. What MLB.com touted was his speed and defensive ability, things that could make him a valuable chess piece come playoff time.

What makes Mitchell such a promising prospect is his athleticism. He’s a plus-plus runner who can steal a base (17 in 19 attempts last season) and turn balls hit to the outfield into extra-base hits. He covers lots of ground in center and showcases a plus arm that makes him an overall defensive asset...

The Brewers enter play on Friday at 82-64 on the season and 4.5 games up in the National League Central.

They are hosting the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday night at 8:10 p.m. ET.
