After several weeks of negative updates on injured players, the New York Yankees got a positive update finally.

According to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com, the Yankees are on track to activate star Aaron Judge from the injured list next Tuesday. He's been out with a hip injury. The Yankees will be playing Oakland on Tuesday.

That is the earliest possible date for activation, so that's certainly good news for both the Yankees and Judge. Hoch adds that he's been performing running and hitting drills.

The Yankees certainly need Judge back in the lineup as quickly as possible. They are currently in last place in the American League East at 17-16 and are already a whopping 10.0 games out of first place, behind the Tampa Bay Rays.

This year, he's out to another strong start. He's hitting .261 with six home runs and 14 RBI. He's also two stolen bases. Judge is a four-time all-star (2017-2018, 2021-2022), won MVP in 2022, Rookie of the Year in 2017 and has received MVP votes in four separate seasons. He's also a three-time winner of the silver slugger award.

The team has been hit by a rash of injuries this year. They are without third baseman Josh Donaldson, outfielder Giancarlo Stanton, outfielder Harrison Bader and pitchers Lou Trivino, Tommy Kahnle, Luis Severino and Frankie Montas.

We also learned yesterday that free agent acquisition Carlos Rodon is still experiencing back problems and will need to get a cortisone shot in order to get back on the mound.

The Yankees will take on the Rays today at 4:10 p.m.
