Veteran catcher Wilson Ramos might be looking to make a major league comeback after signing a deal with the Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League.

The Ducks are a frequent spot for guys who still have major league aspirations to sign, and we just saw former Mets, Nationals and Rockies player Daniel Murphy use the Ducks as a springboard to being signed by the Los Angeles Angels.

The following update comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:

Ramos agreed to a deal Tuesday with the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League.

ANALYSIS
Ramos had been catching for Acereros de Monclova of the Mexican League, but he'll move to New York with designs on breaking back into MLB-affiliated ball. The 35-year-old former two-time All-Star last played in the majors in 2021, when he struggled to a .205/.248/.397 batting line in 44 games (163 plate appearances) between Detroit and Cleveland.

He's played parts of 12 seasons in the majors with the Twins, Nationals, Rays, Phillies, Mets, Tigers and Guardians.

His most notable portion of his career was with the Nationals, where he played from 2010-16. He made the National League All-Star team in 2016 and then made the All-Star team in 2018 as well where he split the season between the Rays and the Phillies.

The native of Venezuela is a lifetime .271 hitter with 136 homers and 534 RBI.

Perhaps a team looking for veteran catching depth or a team with an injury at the position will give him a look.
