Chicago White Sox' Tim Anderson Gets Knocked Out By Right Hook From Cleveland Guardians' Jose Ramirez

The Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Guardians engaged in an old-fashioned brawl on Saturday night and it didn't end well for White Sox infielder Tim Anderson.

A frustrating season got worse for Chicago White Sox infielder Tim Anderson on Saturday night as he was knocked out by a right hook from Cleveland Guardians infielder Jose Ramirez in a benches-clearing brawl.

We're not quite sure what prompted the fight but Ramirez slid safely into second base and Anderson stood over him for a bit after applying the tag. Ramirez took offense to something, got in Anderson's face, and then the two came to blows. Anderson threw the first punch before catching a right hook from Ramirez.

You can see the melee below:

Both players were ejected and suspensions are likely coming as a result, but the league office will have to review the incident first.

It's been a major down year for Anderson in general, who has battled injury and ineffectiveness. He's hitting just .244 this year with one home run, 19 RBI and 11 stolen bases. He's got a sub-600 OPS. There was talk of him being traded at the trade deadline but the Sox elected to hold onto him even after trading Lucas Giolito, Reynaldo Lopez, Lance Lynn, Joe Kelly and Jake Burger.

The White Sox and Guardians will play each other again on Sunday afternoon. First pitch from Progressive Field is slated for 12:05 p.m. ET as Jesse Scholtens (CWS) pitches against Xzavion Curry (CLE).

Scholtens is 1-4 on the season with a 3.07 ERA while Curry is 3-1 with a 2.90 ERA.

The White Sox will be back in action on Monday against the New York Yankees.
