Chicago White Sox' Liam Hendriks Announces He is Cancer-Free!

In this story:
The Chicago White Sox have gotten off to a rough 7-12 start on the season and are mired in fourth place in the American League Central.
But on Thursday afternoon, none of that mattered. White Sox closer Liam Hendriks took to social media to announce himself as cancer-free, and the team's Twitter account posted a picture as well. Hendriks wrote "How it started VS how it's going... REMISSION. It's official. I'm cancer free." He added a smiling/crying emoji.
The team tweeted out that photo and said "Liam Hendriks is cancer free. We're so happy for you, Liam and Kristi!"

Hendriks, 34, said back in January that he would be starting treatment for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He was not put on the 60-day injured list so he could come back soon, in theory, but no one knows how much time he'll need to get back into game shape or game action.
Hendriks is one of the top closers in the league, having wrapped up 115 career saves, nearly all of which have come since 2019. He led the league in 2021 in saves with 38 for the White Sox.
Hendriks will be entering his 13th major league season and has spent time with the Twins, Royals, Blue Jays, Athletics and White Sox. He's a three-time all-star (2019, 2021-2022) and we certainly wish him the best in getting healthy and getting back on the diamond soon!
The White Sox open a series on Friday with the MLB-best Rays on Friday at 6:40 p.m. ET.
