Following a massive fight with Cleveland Guardians star Jose Ramirez, Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson has had his suspension reduced from six games to five games.

The following update comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:

Anderson's suspension was reduced to five games Thursday, and he will begin serving the ban Friday in Colorado, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.

ANALYSIS
With the suspension for participating in the Aug. 5 brawl with the Guardians going into effect Friday, the shortstop will miss the series in Colorado and the first two games in Seattle early next week. He will return from the suspension Aug. 23, the rubber match of the series against the Mariners. Anderson's suspension was reduced from six games after he settled with the league before an appeal hearing was needed.

The whole ordeal represents a continued a fall for Anderson this season. The two-time All-Star and former batting champion is having a dreadful year. He's been injured and underperformed, in addition to this. He's hitting just .238 with one home run, 21 RBI and 11 stolen bases.

He's one of the few White Sox veterans that wasn't dealt at the trade deadline, although teams did have interest in acquiring him. He has a team option this offseason on his contract that is likely to be exercised by the White Sox, but he could still be traded.

The White Sox are 48-73 on the year and own the third-worst record in the American League.

They'll play the Rockies on Friday at 8:40 p.m. ET.
