In this story:

ESPN baseball broadcaster and longtime "Baseball Tonight" host Karl Ravech opened up a can of worms on Twitter on Thursday night regarding Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora.

At 8:59 p.m. ET, Ravech tweeted the following:

Sorry to see Gino Dimare step down as head baseball coach at the university of Miami-good man. Do the Canes go big and ask Alex Cora if he’d be interested in going back to Coral Gables? Very tight with pitching coach JD Arteaga. Big price tag but would he even be interested?

So there's a lot to unpack there for one tweet:

1) Cora played at the University of Miami, so there certainly is the connection on all sides. He also had great success at Miami, making the College World Series all-tournament team in both 1995 and 1996. He helped the Hurricanes get to the title game in 1996, where they lost to LSU. It makes sense at least that they would call, and it makes sense at least that he would answer.

2) Cora is from Puerto Rico and has great love for his home nation. By being rooted in Miami, he'd certainly be closer to his home Island -- and his family who still lives there. That's another thing that could make it appealing to at least listen.

3) As other users on Twitter commented on Ravech's post, they wondered if the Red Sox situation is really getting better. If Cora sees the Red Sox as stuck in neutral, maybe he'd listen as well.

4) If you're looking for reasons why Cora wouldn't want that job, understand that he loves being an MLB manager. He has said that he doesn't want to do it forever but he has great appreciation for the highest level of baseball and may not want to leave it just yet.

5) Cora's daughter attends Boston College now. While being closer to Puerto Rico would be good because it would get him closer to some family, it would bring him further away from his daugther.

Interesting food for thought nonetheless! At the time of this post, the Red Sox trail the Guardians, 9-2.
