Former Baltimore Orioles 3B Passes Away at Age of 49

In this story:
Tragic news this week from the World of Baseball as former Baltimore Orioles' third baseman Ryan Minor passed away at the age of 49.
His brother made the announcement on social media:
“After a courageous and hard fought battle I’m sad to say that Ryan lost his fight with cancer this afternoon. He truly was the best twin brother you can ask for. His family and I want to thank everyone for the prayers and support during this time. BOOMER SOONER.”
The Ohio native attended the University of Oklahoma and was drafted in the 33rd round of the 1996 MLB draft. He was actually drafted three separate times: 1992 out of high school, 1995 out of Oklahoma and then 1996.
Minor played parts of four seasons in the big leagues with the Orioles and the Montreal Expos. His most productive season was 1999 when he hit three homers and drove in 10. His most games played in a season was 55 in 2001.
After his playing career ended, he became a minor league coach and manager. MLBTradeRumors had more on his post-playing resume.
After retiring from playing, Minor started a long second career as a coach and minor league manager. Much of that time was spent in Baltimore’s organization, working from 2010-19 managing the Orioles’ A-ball and high-A affiliates in Delmarva and Frederick. Minor also worked as a coach and manager in the Atlantic League in 2006-07 before beginning his long stint with the Orioles, and he managed the Tigers’ Gulf Coast West League affiliate in 2020-21.
