Baseball Broadcasters Come to the Defense of Baltimore Orioles' Broadcaster Kevin Brown

After news of the indefinite suspension for Baltimore Orioles broadcaster Kevin Brown broke on Monday, the baseball broadcasting world rushed to his defense.

On Monday, we told you the story of how Baltimore Orioles broadcaster Kevin Brown was suspended indefinitely by the team for simply commenting on the Orioles previously poor record against the Tampa Bay Rays in Tampa Bay.

It was announced shortly after that story broke that Brown would be re-instated in "the near future."

However, broadcasters around the sport took issue with the entire saga and made it known all over the place on Monday night.

New York Yankees broadcaster Michael Kay ripped the Orioles on his radio show on ESPN NY, while the Boston Red Sox broadcast team made comments on the situation in their game broadcast. Chicago White Sox broadcaster Jason Benitti also discussed it during the White Sox and Yankees game.

You can hear some of those comments below. Let's start with Benitti, who ended his thoughts with a zinger "I hope I don't get suspended by the Orioles for saying that..."

And here was Kay on his radio show...

"They (the Orioles) should be ashamed of themselves...."

And Dave O'Brien on the Red Sox broadcast...

NESN's Dave O'Brien and Kevin Youkilis on Kevin Brown and the Orioles: "That's a fiasco that that's allowed to happen. And I think every announcer in the league feels the same way... That's a joke and I hope he's reinstated immediately."

The Orioles are 70-42 and are tied for the most wins in baseball with the Atlanta Braves. It's unfortunate that they have allowed this to become the story, taking away from the fabulous on-field product.
