The Kansas City Royals are going to finish last in the American League Central this year, but they are giving us all a nice parting gift this season.

The Royals have announced that they are going to wear their beautiful powder blue uniforms for the final two games of the season, played on Saturday and Sunday in Kansas City.

Chris Creamer of SportsLogos.net had the information:

The Royals, who wore powder blue jerseys and pants on the road from 1973 to 1991, brought back powder blue as a home alternate jersey in 2008 but paired it with white pants. Over the next 15 seasons, the Royals had played around with the design of this powder blue top but had never worn the matching pants with it until their home opener here in 2023.

So they'll end the season the same way that it started uniform-wise. It should be noted that Sunday's game will be started by Royals' legend Zack Greinke, who could be making his final start as a major leaguer.

After 20 seasons, he's a free agent at the end of the season.

It's been another tough year for the Royals and their fans, and while a uniform choice isn't likely to erase the sting of it all, it will make the team aesthetically pleasing on the way out the door.

Kansas City is currently 54-105 and owns the second-worst record in baseball. They'll start the final series against the New York Yankees on Friday night.

First pitch is set for 8:10 p.m. ET.
