The Tampa Bay Rays are out to a 10-0 start this season after shutting out the Red Sox, 1-0, on Monday night at Tropicana Field.

The start is the best by a major league team since 1987, when the Milwaukee Brewers, then in the American League, started out 13-0.

The Rays are doing a bit of everything well in the early going. Offensively, they lead the league in home runs (25), runs scored (76), and fewest strikeouts (65). On the pitching side, they have the lowest team ERA (1.70), and lead the league in fewest hits allowed (59).

Rays reliever Jason Adam, who was also a part of Team USA in the World Baseball Classic, spoke Tuesday on MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM and had comments on the Rays hot start.

"You can't go 162-0 if you don't at least win the first 10.... it is a blast in that clubhouse right now. It's always been a fun group of guys but right now, we're clicking. The pitching has been great, the hitting has been great, it's been timely... it just feels like we are going to win every game when we are out there."

Adam, 31, is in his second year with the Rays after playing previously for the Royals, Blue Jays and Cubs. He's got a lifetime 3.29 ERA in 150 games. With the Rays a season ago though, he pitched to a 1.56 ERA in a career-high 67 games. He also had eight saves for Tampa as they earned another trip to the postseason, losing to the Cleveland Guardians in the wild card round.

The Rays will go for win number 11 on the season tonight when they take on the Red Sox again at 6:40 p.m. ET.
