In this story:

The Los Angeles Angels beat the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night by a score of 2-0.

It was a nice win for the slumping Angels, who have fallen to 60-62 on the year and have seen their playoff odds (per Fangraphs) fall to 0.9 percent.

The Angels won thanks to a brilliant pitching performance from Reid Detmers, who went 7.1 innings and allowed just one hit. They were carried offensively by none other than Shohei Ohtani, who went 3-for-4 and hit his 42nd home run of the season.

As questions swirl about where he'll sign this offseason, Ohtani juts continues to produce. He's hitting .306 with the 42 home runs and 85 RBI. He's likely headed for his second MVP award in the last three years.

Not only does he hit home runs, he hits no-doubt home runs. Thirty of his 42 home runs would have been homers in all 30 ballparks, which is by far the most in baseball.

Per ESPN Stats & Info:

Half of Shohei Ohtani's 42 homers this season would have been a HR in all 30 ballparks, per Statcast.

ESPN Stats & Info adds that Matt Olson (Braves) is next with 19.

Of course, with Ohtani, it's not just about hitting. He's also 10-5 this season with a 3.17 ERA on the mound. He's struck out 165 batters in 130.2 innings.

The Angels are off on Thursday before beginning a weekend series with the Tampa Bay Rays.

First pitch from Anaheim on Friday night is 9:38 p.m. ET.
