Miami Marlins Star Open to Long-Term Deal with Team

In this story:
After a great first season in Miami, Marlins star Luis Arraez is reportedly interested in the idea of a long-term contract with the organization.
Per Daniel Alvarez-Montes:
Luis Arráez on a zoom call today: “They (Marlins) haven’t talked to me about an extension, but if they do, I’m available. I love Miami, I love my teammates. I feel at home when I play with those guys”

The 26-year-old won't be a free agent until after the 2025 season so there is still some time to work out something for the two sides.
Arraez won the National League batting title this past season, hitting .354 and serving as the offensive catalyst on a Marlins team that earned an NL wild card berth. It was his second straight batting title, having also won in the American League version with the Minnesota Twins in 2022.
He hit a career-high 10 home runs and drove in 69 runs as well. He provides little power and only stole three bases, so it's unclear how lucrative a contract he could fetch.
Lifetime, he's a .326 hitter over five seasons with the Twins and Marlins. The best contact artist in the game, he posted a .393 on-base percentage and only struck out 34 times in 617 plate appearances.
It will be an interesting offseason for Miami moving forward. They've got a new general manager after Kim Ng departed and they saw Jorge Soler opt out of the remaining years on his contract.
Sandy Alcantara is also out for the year next year with Tommy John surgery.
