Miami Marlins' Yuli Gurriel Breaks Record That Has Stood in Baseball For Last 15 Years
Miami Marlins first baseman may not be quite the hitter that he was for several years in Houston, but he's still a very productive player.
After signing with Miami in the offseason, Gurriel is hitting .299 through 107 at-bats. He's got three home runs, 11 RBI and two stolen bases.
And he broke a record that had stood for the last 15 years in baseball.
The Marlins Communications team put the following out on Twitter:
1B Yuli Gurriel has now recorded triples in back-to-back games (6th inning at COL on 5/24, 3rd inning on 5/25 at COL), becoming the oldest player (38-350) to triple in consecutive games since CLE's Kenny Lofton on 9/27-28, 2007.

Gurriel is a two-time World Series champion with the Houston Astros (2017, 2022), who was an integral part of the Astros organization. After coming over from Cuba, he made his major league debut in 2016. He's a lifetime .285 hitter with 97 homers and 446 RBI.
He won the batting title in 2021 when he hit .319. He's also added a Gold Glove award to his resume.
The Marlins lost on Thursday to the Colorado Rockies, 7-6. With the loss, Miami dropped under .500 to 25-26. Colorado went to 22-29 with the victory.
The Marlins are trying to keep pace in the National League East. Currently, they are in third place, trailing the Mets by 0.5 games and the Braves by 6.0 games.
