Milwaukee Brewers' Skipper Linked to This Intriguing Job Opening

In this story:
Longtime Milwaukee Brewers manager Craig Counsell could be a match for the same position with the New York Mets, per MLB Insider Jon Heyman.
Heyman says there is some belief among industry insiders that Counsell will end up in New York, but others believe that he'll go back to the Brewers as long as he's paid fairly. He grew up in Wisconsin.
Per Heyman's piece as well:
Many might assume the Mets have the upper hand — he has a solid working relationship with new Mets honcho David Stearns and the money likely will be better (one person guessed double the $3.5 million he made in 2023) — the pull back home has to be strong.
Stearns was recently hired to lead the Mets and Billy Eppler has left the organization.
The Brewers have exclusive negotiating rights with Counsell until the end of October. His contract with Milwaukee runs through the end of the month and then he becomes a free agent. In addition to the Mets, the Angels, Guardians and Giants have managerial openings. Counsell hasn't been linked to anyone but the Mets (other than the Brewers) at this point.
Counsell has managed the Brewers since 2015 and has been to the playoffs five times.
A former player, Counsell spent parts of 16 years in the big leagues with the Rockies, Marlins, Dodgers, Diamondbacks and Brewers. He won the World Series in 1997 with the Marlins and in 2001 with the D'Backs.
He was a lifetime .255 hitter.
In addition to questions about Counsell, the Brewers also have questions about the future of Corbin Burnes and Willy Adames. Brandon Woodruff will likely miss the entire 2024 season with a shoulder injury.
