June 2nd is Lou Gehrig Day around Major League Baseball and teams all over the sport were helping raise funds and awareness for ALS research.

This year, in addition to honoring Gehrig and his legacy, teams were stepping up in honor of Sarah Langs, the MLB researcher who is also battling the disease.

We shared with you earlier on Friday the video that appeared on MLB Network of baseball dignitaries sending messages to Langs.

The New York Mets, the team that Langs grew up rooting for, donated $10,000 to ALS research and put out a lengthy Twitter message with a picture of Langs and her support team.

In partnership with @MLB, the @Mets and the Amazin’ Mets Foundation are proud to honor Lou Gehrig Day at @CitiField by recognizing New York City native and MLB analyst, Sarah Langs (@SlangsOnSports). Langs shared her ALS diagnosis last year and in honor of her courage and advocacy for ALS, the Amazin’ Mets Foundation and President Alex Cohen is pleased to present @ProjectALSorg with a $10,000 grant to support their research.

The Diamondbacks also stepped up and donated $25,000.

Langs responded excitedly on social media, tweeting:

OH MY GOODNESS Thank you so much to everyone involved at the @Dbacks

She also added several emojis to the end of the message.

To the Mets donation, she said the following:

Absolutely no words Thanks SO much to all involved with the @Mets for the incredible generosity, hospitality and love

As Sarah Langs would say, "Baseball is the BEST!"
