The New York Mets and Atlanta Braves divisional rivalry was in full force on Tuesday night in Atlanta.

Always a tussle when these two get together, Pete Alonso of the Mets added to the rivalry by doing a little trash talk to Braves pitcher Bryce Elder.

Here's the situation: Alonso hit a home run off of Elder and then went to the dugout and barked "Throw it again! Throw it again, please! Throw it again! in reference to Elder's slider.

That home run gave the Mets a 4-1 lead but the Braves have since come back. At the time of this posting, it's 5-4 Braves in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Alonso is 1-3 with the homer, two RBI and a run scored. For the season he's hitting .232 with 22 homers and 49 RBI. Alonso's 22 homers lead all of baseball (Aaron Judge with 19 and Max Muncy with 18 are next), while his 49 RBI are tied for fourth with Rafael Devers. They trail Yordan Alvarez (53), Adolis Garcia (52) and Marcus Semien (50).

For his career, he's a .258 hitter with 168 homers and 429 RBI. Alonso won Rookie of the Year in 2019 and has made an All-Star team. The former second-round pick out of Florida is vying for another trip to the Midsummer Classic this year.

The Mets entered play on Tuesday at 30-30 while the Braves were 35-24 and in first place in the National League East. The Mets are in third in the division while the Marlins are in second.
