The Yankees are coming off a 99-win season in which they won their second American League East division title since 2012. The club signed All-Star starting pitcher Carlos Rodon to a six-year, $162 million contract over the winter, in hopes of solidifying the club's rotation. Frankie Montas, who the Yankees acquired at the trade deadline last summer, will undergo shoulder surgery and will be sidelined for most of the 2023 season.

The Yankees did not re-sign outfielder Andrew Benintendi, who received a five-year, $75 million contract from the Chicago White Sox. The Yankees still appear to be figuring out left field. The club has engaged in trade talks with the Pittsburgh Pirates centered around outfielder Bryan Reynolds.

The Yankees will open the regular season at Yankee Stadium against the San Francisco Giants Thurs., Mar. 30.
