Remember back on Saturday, when we wrote that the Seattle Mariners got hosed by a terrible strike three call against the Baltimore Orioles? That call against Eugenio Suarez ruined a potential rally in a game that Seattle went onto lose.

Well, maybe the Mariners got their payback on Monday night.

Facing the Washington Nationals, the Mariners were up 8-4 in the top of the ninth inning. The bases were loaded and the count was 1-2 on Nationals infielder Jeimer Candelario when M's closer Paul Sewald threw a back-door slider on the outside corner.

The pitch was clearly a ball, but was called strike three and the Mariners won the game, ending the Nationals threat.

As he was calling the action, Mariners broadcaster Aaron Goldsmith went viral for his reaction to the call.

You can see the highlight below, which was picked up by popular site "Awful Announcing."

"Strike 3 called -- if you say so. And the Mariners win it."

No matter how you slice it, the pitch was a ball. It was a ball where it landed, it was a ball where it crossed and it was a ball where it was framed by catcher Cal Raleigh.

But it's a win that the Mariners will take. They desperately needed it after coming off a 2-4 road trip and falling further out of playoff contention.

The Mariners are currently 38-39 and are 4.0 games back in the American League wild card race.

They'll play the Nationals again on Tuesday at 9:40 p.m. ET.
