Seattle Mariners Fans Get Angry All Over Again on Tuesday Afternoon After Seahawks Press Conference

As the Seattle Seahawks addressed their situation and future on Tuesday afternoon, Seattle Mariners' fans became very upset. Here's why:

Last week, the Seattle Seahawks and longtime head coach Pete Carroll parted ways after 14 seasons, one of which included a Super Bowl championship.

It was undoubtedly a tough decision for Seahawks ownership, given that Carroll made the playoffs 10 times in his tenure and remains energetic and popular. The team also wasn't awful this year, going 9-8 and missing the playoffs just barely, so it's not like they were a total laughing stock.

That said, the organization decided to move forward without Carroll and will move to another phase.

On Tuesday, Seahawks general manager John Schneider addressed the media to talk about where the organization goes from here. He spoke with humility and expressed disappointment at the 2023 season. The words were certainly good to hear for Seahawks fans, but they absolutely infuriated Seattle Mariners fans.

Popular M's "X" user @MarinerMuse posted the following which encapsulated the feelings well:

John Schneider after Seahawks sneak into playoffs in 22 and barely miss in 23: We’re disappointed, we can’t get stagnant and need to get better

Jerry Dipoto after Mariners sneak into playoffs in 22 and barely miss in 23: We got better, be patient, we’re doing you a favor

The post is alluding to the now ill-fated press conference from Baseball Operations head Jerry Dipoto in which he said that the organization was doing the fans a "favor" by not going all-in to win a World Series and instead was doing the right thing by merely being competitive.

@MarinerMuse also posted this:

It’s shocking how much more of an actual human Schneider is than what we’ve been sold as the ideal baseball executive as Mariners fans.

The Mariners went 88-74 in 2023 and missed the playoffs by 1.0 game.

They are the only organization to never appear in a World Series.
