Three Seattle Mariners Receive Votes in American League MVP Race

Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Angels won his second MVP award on Thursday night, but three different Seattle Mariners received votes.

Los Angeles Angels' superstar Shohei Ohtani won his second MVP award in three years on Thursday night, receiving all 30 first-place votes.

It wraps up a truly dominant year for Ohtani, who started his year by winning a World Baseball Classic title and ends it with the MVP.

Unfortunately, Ohtani was injured in September and missed nearly the entire last month of the season, but he still ran away with the award.

Besides Ohtani, it's noteworthy that three separate Seattle Mariners received MVP votes, including Julio Rodriguez who finished fourth behind Ohtani, Corey Seager (TEX) and Marcus Semien (TEX).

Rodriguez hit .275 for the 88-win Mariners. He also popped 32 homers, drove in 103 and stole 37 bases. He is one of the top young players in all of baseball and is already a two-time All-Star at the age of 22.

As for Crawford, who received five points in the voting, he wrapped up his best year of his professional career, hitting .266 with 19 homers and 65 RBI. He posted a .380 on-base percentage, led the league in walks and continued to play great defense at shortstop.

Raleigh received two points in the voting, hitting .232 with 30 homers and 75 RBI. He is one of the best-hitting catchers in all of baseball.

The Mariners went 88-74 and finished third in the American League West, missing the playoffs by one game.
